What We Do

The Ohio State University's Waterman Agricultural and Natural Resources Laboratory is a vibrant living and learning facility maintained by the CFAES for the conduct of research, teaching, and outreach programs. Annually we:

Conduct 40+ exceptional diverse research projects that cover the range of our CFAES/OSUE/OARDC base of operations. During a typical year of operation, at least three additional OSU Colleges will participate in WANRL operations and projects.

Maintain a 100 cow (Jerseys!) milking herd that is utilized in teaching, research and outreach programs. A bit of farm in the city!

Provide local and statewide community outreach opportunities via such projects as the Master Gardeners and such special programs as those held almost weekly in the Wittmeyer Conference Room. (The Wittmeyer hosts 45+ non CFAES functions a year)

Manicure a class turfgrass research operation that covers everything from your front yard to a golf course fairway.

Teach 15+ courses at the site with 'hands on' experience not including the student run farm that produces produce for campus dining spots.
